I was drawn to this profession, counseling, with a strong desire to help individuals achieve a higher quality of life. In almost 30 years of practicing, I have not lost my passion to provide my clients what they feel is important to them to achieve this goal. I have a Master’s Degree in counseling. I have extensive experience working with adults with mood and/or substance use problems. I also see individuals for couples’ therapy. I have nearly 30 years of experience working with adults and older adolescents in all levels of care from in-patient settings to outpatient including individual and group therapy. I have training and experience in cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality-based therapy, EMDR, and art therapy. My areas of specialty include anxiety disorders, anger, grief and loss, depression, obsessive/compulsive behavioral issues, effective management of stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse and gambling addiction. I am professionally and personally committed to helping clients improve the quality of their lives through, in part, developing a strong therapeutic relationship with the individual. I find value in working with an individual and their significant other or family if the client finds benefit in that service. I also have extensive experience in working with individuals who might be mandated by the court system and will work with a client’s attorney. I have equally extensive experience in producing assessments and reports for the State of Michigan Driver’s Appeal Board and assessment for district courts. I am credentialed as a licensed professional counselor, a registered art therapist, a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor, and a certified substance abuse professional (through the United States Department of Transportation.
