I have been working with children, adolescents, and families for more than 40 years. I have expertise in the areas of residential treatment, foster care, and adoption services working with children who have experienced neglect, abuse, and trauma. I have also worked in education for 23 years servicing special education students with severe emotional impairments. Lastly, I have worked with adolescents and adults through outpatient therapy services since 2009.
Currently, I work virtually through Telehealth. I see adolescents and adults who present with depression, anxiety, trauma, ADD, ADHD, life transitions, adjustment and mood disorders, as well as binge eating disorders.
My approach is to rule out possible medical, biochemical, neurologic, or genetic contributions to emotional challenges. I use a blend of person-centered and supportive therapy to develop solid therapeutic relationships. I implement cognitive behavioral strategies to change negative thinking patterns and develop healthy coping skills. Most importantly, I provide empathy, psycho-education, guidance, and support in a relaxed atmosphere with a bit of laughter thrown in!
